Description
Siminoc is a widespread plant in Europe and is part of the Compositae family. In Romania, it grows in the spontaneous flora of the plains, in grassy, sandy or calcareous places. The stem of the flower is straight, unbranched, reaches up to 50-60 cm and is covered with fine bristles. The leaves are lanceolate, opposite, (those at the base are longer) and are covered with fine bristles, which give them a velvety appearance and a silver-gray hue. At the top of the stem are the yellow flowers, grouped in globular heads, with a diameter of 5-6 cm and they bloom in the months of June-October. Even after drying, the plant keeps its appearance unchanged. In phytotherapy, the inflorescence is used, which must be harvested from June to October. The plant is rich in: bitter substances, tannins, flavonoses, saponosides, apigenin, astragalin, dyes, quercetrol, hamferol, glycosides, volatile oil, mineral salts.
