Inside the glue there are invisible threads called polymers. The activator connects these threads together, as if you were catching the hands of several friends in a chain, and this makes the slime become elastic and fun. If you add more activator, the slime becomes harder and less sticky, and if you add less, it remains softer and fluffier.
