Description

Rudraksha, handmade natural stone bracelet, various sizes Rudraksha is a seed traditionally used to make rosaries in Hinduism. The word Rudraksha is formed from two Sanskrit words. Rudra - synonymous with Lord Shiva, and Aksha meaning "eyes". The Rudraksha tree itself (Elaecarpus ganifrus Roxb) grows only in a few places in the world - the Indian Himalayas and Nepal, and in some parts of Indonesia. It is large, with wide stems and blooms all year round. Its fruit is of different sizes - from 3 to 40 mm., has a smooth light green surface with a stone and looks very much like a green grape. In the stone there is a round seed with an uneven surface and a hole in the middle. Each one has from 1 to 21 vertical lines that closely resemble the vertical lines of a globe. The seeds are used primarily in India and Nepal as beads for organic jewelry and mala (a type of rosary) and are valued similarly to semi-precious stones. Different meanings and properties are attributed to beads with different numbers of segments (faces / mukh). The fruits of the tree are believed to contain cosmic energy that promotes spiritual attainment, elevates the soul, calms the mind, clarifies thoughts, improves memory and relieves stress. Although it is associated with Hinduism Rudraksha can be worn and worshiped by absolutely any person irrespective of religion, sect, skin color and gender. It is believed that whoever wears the Rudraksha by order or prescription will invoke and appropriate the energies of Lord Shiva and negative thoughts and emotions will be destroyed. It calms the central nervous system, normalizes blood pressure and helps to generally strengthen health. Protects from bad energies and heals. It has no side effects, provides a peaceful mind and prosperity to the wearer. Ancient scriptures claim that if a person meets his death while wearing the Rudraksha, he will be freed from the cycle or circle of life and death, and attain moksha (liberation). These are the main qualities of the Rudraksha. Wearing a Rudraksha (Mala) bracelet or necklace provides divine protection and increases the chances of prosperity. Rudraksha beads can be strung together as a Mala and used to count the repetition of a mantra or prayer, similar to the use of rosaries in Christianity. They usually consist of 108 grains. 108 is a sacred number in Eastern cultures. There are various ornaments with different bead sizes (rudaksha type of rosaries) – bracelets, rosaries, necklaces, etc. Prayer beads are an auxiliary tool for counting prayers (mantras in the Eastern spiritual tradition). The small /special type of rosary/ made of rudraksha or in combination with semi-precious stones has 108 beads, plus one additional, larger bead called the Meru. It can be used for japa meditation as well as worn as an accessory, conveying to the wearer the qualities that the rudraksha carries.
